As promised, AMD has made the FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) scaling technology open source as part of the GPUOpen initiative. This allows video game developers to easily integrate it into new and existing projects. In addition, FSR is now available in beta version of the Unity engine, and a separate patch has been released for the Unreal Engine that can be applied to Unreal Engine version 4.26.
In addition, in the near future, several new games will acquire FidelityFX Super Resolution support. The total number of projects with AMD FSR will reach 12 in a matter of weeks after the release of this technology.
Arcadegeddon (July 16);
Necromunda: Hired Gun (July 16);
Edge of Eternity (July 21)
Resident Evil Village (this month).
As a reminder, AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution is the Reds’ answer to Nvidia DLSS. It creates an “ultra-high resolution” image from a lower resolution frame and is supported by a wide range of 3D accelerators, including GeForce GTX / RTX, Radeon RX 400/500, and integrated video cores in APUs. We talked in more detail about the FSR technology in a separate article.
